Cosmos left-back Ayoze announced today, via Twitter that he would be departing New York after 5 seasons in green. Ayoze is one of the few players that has been with the Cosmos for the entirety of the reboot era, and is considered one of the best representatives of the club both on and off the pitch.

A tweet from Midfield Press’ Chris Kivlehan suggests that Ayoze will be joining Juan Guerra at Indy Eleven. If you recall from last offseason, Ayoze received interest from Major League Soccer as well.

Losing Ayoze is one of the biggest blows for a fanbase that has been through a lot over the last couple of months. He will be missed and remembered as one of the most consistent and best all around players for the reboot Cosmos. All the best to him as he finds a new club.
Thank you Ayoze > the break up pass vs. Red Bull in #OpenCup was one of the best soccer plays I have ever seen. Thank you for all the Trophies & for always playing hard as hell. #ThankYouAyoze @NYCosmos pic.twitter.com/lEFJYVBY67

could honestly cry at this point, Ayoze is an absolute legend. Played in just about every game since 2013.

& if I remember right, he signed a two year contract last year. what a fucking mess this all is. https://t.co/o3at9uWjCr
It’s hard to express how much Ayoze means to this club and it’s fans. The second ever signing. His breathtaking skill on the ball. His passion for the club itself. Not to mention 3 titles.

Thank you, Ayoze. Forever one of us.
Also like, never saw someone work so hard to communicate and get along with others around him despite not knowing much of the language. I know I keep saying this for #xNYCosmos but man Ayoze was a high class person.
