It’s the dog days of the Fall Season. Which teams have the energy to make a push for the playoffs?
FC Edmonton: Center-back Abdoulaye Diakité made the Team of the Week. The Senegal product made four interceptions and six clearances in the Eddies’ previous match against North Carolina FC.
Indy Eleven: Indy completed the signing of Brazilian winger Paulo Junior. As usual, contract details were not released. The 28-year-old scored five goals and assists for the Ottawa Fury in 2015 and 2016. Indy gave praise to the winger’s experience, noting that Junior has had experience with the MLS side, Real Salt Lake.
Jacksonville Armada FC: Jacksonville have had a very busy couple of weeks trying to settle in with new owner Robert Palmer, and developing their young core for the future. It’s paying off, as the trio of goalkeeper Caleb Patterson-Sewell, defender Kalen Ryden, and forward Ciarán Kilduff all made the Team of the Week.
Miami FC: Miami is looking more and more likely to win the Fall Season, as they’re breaking away in the standings with 16 points. Jamie Chávez is probably the best player in the league right now, as he earned another Team of the Week membership. Chávez bagged a hat-trick against none other than the New York Cosmos.
Defender Blake Smith also made the list with a fine array of crosses, particularly towards Chávez.
North Carolina FC: North Carolina, like many other NASL clubs, provided a statement on the recent USSF Sanctioning Decision. The club notes that they’re “fully committed” to potentially playing in the MLS one day.
Aside from that, both defender Christian Ibeagha and midfielder Lance Laing made the Team of the Week. Laing earned assisted an Ibeagha goal in their recent match against FC Edmonton.
Puerto Rico FC: PRFC continue the hunt for an NASL playoff spot, as they are tied with both Edmonton and the San Francisco Deltas for second place.
Matches are being postponed as a result of Hurricane Irma. Both Jacksonville and Miami as well as millions of people are being affected by the potential threat of Irma. Stay safe everybody.
Our minds with all of our PR family in Florida and our friends in @TheMiamiFC & @JaxArmadaFC. Stay safe, peeps. #HurricaneIrma https://t.co/5ZZD0Le1Uc
