Yesterday, the New York Cosmos announced that forward Bledi Bardic and defender Harri Hawkins will join the senior club for the rest of the season.
Hawkins comes in at the age of 24. The defender stands at six-feet and three-inches tall to be exact, and has earned many accolades for his collegiate club Hofstra. Harri also made his debut for the Cosmos in their 2-0 victory against Valencia CF.
Bardic also is at the age of 24. He took a different route to professional football then Hawkins did. The Montenegrin international played for the NPSL’s Clarkstown SC Eagles, where he notched 12 goals and 2 assists.
In other news, New York also announced that they’ve loaned Alexis Velela to the Spanish club, C.F. Motril. The loan will last until December 31, 2017.
The 19-year-old defender can actually play at both the fullback and central midfield positions. Velela has also played for both the U-17 and U-19 United States National Teams. Playing for this side could be some good experience for a player with such versatility and potential.
