Big news from the Originals as they have announced the re-signing of midfielder, Juan Arango. In 2016, he was able to score 15 goals in 29 games for New York. As a result, Arango won the MVP that year and helped the Cosmos lift their third Soccer Bowl in just four years.

At 37 years of age, Arango has made his presence felt for several clubs across the world. More notably, he has played for Spanish club Mallorca and one of Germany’s top clubs, Borussia Mönchengladbach. Combined for both clubs, he made 337 appearances and scored 70 goals.

Arango has also represented the Venezuelan National Team from 1999-2015. He’s made 127 appearances for his country while netting 23 goals.

Details of his contract were not released by the club. Last month, the Cosmos brought back another former player in Lucky Mkosana. Here’s the team’s release of the new signing:

Personally, I think this a great signing. This strengthens what is an already strong midfield. I’d be fine if the Cosmos went silent for the rest of the transfer window. We’ve yet to see how the players that are currently in form go about playing in long stretches of NASL play, with the exception of Ledesma. As far as I know, Lucky hasn’t played for the club yet since his arrival. This signing might just be the goal scoring threat New York needs to lift another Soccer Bowl.
