Saturday’s friendly against Valencia CF featured some great performances from the Cosmos. Of course it’s only a friendly and Valencia were not at full strength, but I was very impressed with the composure and quality of the Cosmos’ performance. Here are three of the players who really stood out to me.

The third string keeper definitely took advantage of a rare start. While Jimmy Maurer was in Dallas, Zobeck put on a commanding performance in his absence. He was confident off his line, dominant in the box, and he punched the ball really really far. His slide against Simone Zaza was a particularly impressive moment for him. The Cosmos are really spoiled for choice at the keeper position.
What a game! I'll take the 0️⃣ any day! Well done to the boys and thank you to all the people that made today happen #NYCosmos #TeamHummel— Kyle Zobeck (@KyleZobeck) July 23, 2017
What more could we ask for, great team performance today to get that 2-0 result against Valencia! Happy for another goal glory goes to God pic.twitter.com/bISafG5Dn1— Eric Calvillo (@Santana_eric6) July 23, 2017
Cavillo, who has begun to appear more frequently towards the end of the fall season, impressed in this friendly. The young star put in some quality crosses, as well as scored New York’s first goal. With the departure of Walter Restrepo to the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Cavillo could really break into the team in the Fall.
Very excited to play my first game with @NYCosmos. 2-0 victory against Valencia. Looking forward to playing against Miami next week! https://t.co/FlocvwaJzr— Kobi Moyal (@Kobimoyal21) July 23, 2017
Ok, Moyal didn’t play for too much of the game, but did you see that roulette? In the ten minutes or so he did feature he was tenacious and aggressive midfielder. There’s a lot to look forward to (including possibly some cards) with the Israeli midfielder.
A great debut from @Kobimoyal21... Not a bad way to introduce yourself... pic.twitter.com/iTqW1N74w2— New York Cosmos (@NYCosmos) July 23, 2017
