Cosmos Notebook: Three stars from the Valencia friendly

Three standouts from the 2-0 win

@NYCosmos

Saturday’s friendly against Valencia CF featured some great performances from the Cosmos. Of course it’s only a friendly and Valencia were not at full strength, but I was very impressed with the composure and quality of the Cosmos’ performance. Here are three of the players who really stood out to me.

Kyle Zobeck

The third string keeper definitely took advantage of a rare start. While Jimmy Maurer was in Dallas, Zobeck put on a commanding performance in his absence. He was confident off his line, dominant in the box, and he punched the ball really really far. His slide against Simone Zaza was a particularly impressive moment for him. The Cosmos are really spoiled for choice at the keeper position.

Eric Cavillo

Cavillo, who has begun to appear more frequently towards the end of the fall season, impressed in this friendly. The young star put in some quality crosses, as well as scored New York’s first goal. With the departure of Walter Restrepo to the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Cavillo could really break into the team in the Fall.

Kobi Moyal

Ok, Moyal didn’t play for too much of the game, but did you see that roulette? In the ten minutes or so he did feature he was tenacious and aggressive midfielder. There’s a lot to look forward to (including possibly some cards) with the Israeli midfielder.

What player impressed you the most in the friendly?
