The New York Cosmos started off a busy week with a 1-0 victory in North Carolina. The New York Originals played high-tempo football, but couldn’t find a goal in the first half. North Carolina shot stopper Brian Sylvestre stood on his head, making five saves for North Carolina, but he could not keep the Cosmos off the board. Juan Guerra made up for a first-half miss by volleying in a cross from Walter Restrepo to give New York the lead and eventually the win. On the defensive side of the ball, the Cosmos shut down NCFC only allowing one shot on target. Keeper Brian Holt, filling in for the injured Jimmy Maurer, recorded his first clean sheet of the season. With better finishing, the Cosmos could have had a bigger lead on North Carolina, but I’m nitpicking here, New York had a great performance on the day.
The Cosmos still have an impeccable record on the road this season with three wins and two draws. New York’s collection of the three points moves into a tie with the Jacksonville Armada for second place. Both teams have 16 points on the season, but Jacksonville has a one goal advantage of the Cosmos. New York can hold sole possession of second place with a midweek win against bottom of the table FC Edmonton. If New York can win out for the rest of the week, they’ll find themselves in first place.
+3 on the way to NY @5_Points_NYC ⚽. Time to rest and prepare for Wednesday night @NYCosmos ! Partido a partido! Todos juntos! ⚽

In other Cosmos News, The New York Originals win another Hudson River Derby, although this one is a little small. The Cosmos U14 Squad recorded a 4-1 win against the NYCFC’s youth squad. Of course, like any derby, Cosmos supporters were in full force for the victory. It’s wonderful to see such a great fan turnout for the mini Boys in Green.
NYCFC kid: Why don't we have supporters like that?

The Senior squad is back in action at MCU this Wednesday against FC Edmonton.
