It was a rough and tumble match for New York, but the Cosmos were able to grind out a 1-0 win against the San Francisco Deltas. Both the New York and San Francisco were relatively even, but an amazing chip from Emmanual Ledesma separated the two teams. Ledesma made a huge impact in his Cosmos debut, making the most of the occasion with his goal.

Both teams played a hard fought and scrappy match, but the New York Originals were able to end the Delta’s unbeaten streak. Between both sides there were nineteen fouls (Fifteen from the Cosmos) and six yellow cards. I also found to be funny the former Delta Danny Szetela wore the armband, in the absence of Carlos Mendes and Ayoze. It will be interesting to see if matches between the Cosmos and Deltas could develop into a fun East-West Coast rivalry for the NASL. For the Cosmos, the away win puts them in a great position in the NASL standings. New York sit in fourth, but a victory against league leaders Jacksonville Armada could leapfrog them into the pole position.
One team, one big family! All together pushing towards the same goal! Game by game... +3 on the way home @NYCosmos @5_Points_NYC ⚽ pic.twitter.com/9OrnjlY2q3

Jimmy Maurer may have made 5 saves and earned a clean sheet, but he didn’t have the best goalkeeper moment of day. Before the match, Deltas keeper Romuald Peiser proposed to his fiancee. If you missed it, check it out below. Heartwarming moments like this are always nice to see, plus they bring some mainstream media eyeballs to the NASL.
He put a ring on it!

New York returns back to the east coast next week, when they face off against the Jacksonville Armada.
