In news broken earlier in the week, One World Sports, the former television home of the New York Cosmos has been relaunched as Eleven Sports. As pointed out by WorldSoccerTalk One World Sports, furloughed most of its staff at the same time as the Cosmos and has not aired original programming in months. WorldSoccerTalk also provided details on the Eleven Sports:
Awful Announcing has reported that One World Sports owes “hundreds of thousands” to freelance production workers and companies. An anonymous source on the website said the following about the debts:
It remains unclear how much of this debt is related to their coverage of the New York Cosmos. At the moment One World Sports has not announced anything about their future. One World Sports was previously connected at the hip to the Cosmos through Seamus O’Brien, chairman of One World Media and former member of the Cosmos’ ownership group. Although a television home for the Cosmos has not been formally announced, Rocco Commisso has insisted the club no longer has a working relationship with One World Sports.
Commisso asked about OWS: "This is not a One World Sports deal. This is the #NYCosmos."
