Today the New York Cosmos announced the signing of Javi Marquez. Marquez previously played in La Liga, with his hometown club Espanyol, Mallorca, and Granada. He has also represented Catalonia internationally on two occasions.
Gio singles out a defensive mid from Spain (tomorrow) and center back (soon) as "massive assets" to the #NYCosmos this season.

Marquez’s arrival was speculated for the majority of the week, with comments by Gio Savarese hinting towards signing a new Spanish midfielder. Spanish outlet Gazeta Sporturlior reported on Wednesday that Marquez would sign with the New York.

Javi stated his excitement at joining the Cosmos in the club’s press release today:
Marquez’s signing is a big boost to the Cosmos’s midfield. At the moment the Cosmos are very deep in the middle with the recent signings of Richard Majivar and Javi Marquez to add to the likes of Danny Szetela and Juan Guerra. Marquez is coming right out of La Liga, akin to Cosmos star Ayoze when he first joined the team in 2013. Let’s hope Javi will have a successful season with the Cosmos!
