Today, The Cosmos travel down to Central Broward Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale to play a midweek makeup match against Puerto Rico FC.
If you’ve been following the Cosmos it’s going to sound like a broken record, but we really need three points against Puerto Rico. Especially going into their match with the 5th place Jacksonville Armada even on points, The New York Originals need to make a stand here. A win could extend their unbeaten run in their all-time (this season) head to head record against PRFC.
New York will be looking for its awards season nominees to step up in this match. Emmanuel Ledesma and Eric Calvillo have been nominated for Golden Ball and Young Player of the Year respectively. Cosmos manager Gio Savarese has been nominated been Manager of the Year as well. Go out and vote for your Cosmos!
Puerto Rico FC will be playing for pride. Although they sit comfortably in the last place in the NASL table, they will be aspiring to bring some hope to the island nation that has been hit hard by the hurricane. PRFC is playing the rest of their home games stateside, and 50% of all ticket sales will be going to the Carmelo Anthony Puerto Rico Relief Fund.
Match Prediction
If the Cosmos can finish the chances they’ve created, they should be able to win this game. Expect Ledesma to make a case for MVP status in a 1-0 away win.
Kick off in Ft. Lauderdale is at 7:30 Eastern Time. Keep on the lookout on Twitter for broadcast information.
