In an effort to increase defensive depth, the Cosmos signed Kyle McTurk from their B team. McTurk played in eleven games at right back for the B team this season and featured in the Cosmos’ Las Vegas friendly against S.D. Eibar. In the club’s official press release, Giovanni Savarese had this to say about McTurk:
The timing of this call-up makes perfect sense for the Cosmos. At the moment they need all hands on deck in defense. With Roversio just returning from injury and Captain Carlos Mendes having an injury scare on Saturday, the team’s defensive options could be limited for tomorrow’s match against Spring Champions Indy Eleven. In addition, defender David Ochieng will be leaving the squad shortly for an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with Kenya. It will be exciting to see how the 26 year old Stony Brook alum can contribute to the team going forward.
