Vegas, baby!

On May 25, the Cosmos are slated to test themselves in a summer break friendly versus Spanish Primera División side SD Eibar at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The game comes as part of the LFP World Challenge, where La Liga clubs play in friendlies worldwide as an effort to spread their reputation. This tour will be Eibar's first ever trip to the United States, which comes after a relatively successful season in their league for a club promoted to the top tier of Spanish football just two years ago.

The Cosmos and Eibar will battle it out in the 40,000-seater Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, home to two former American soccer clubs, the long-defunct Las Vegas Seagulls and Las Vegas Quicksilvers, who only lasted a year each in the city.

With the NASL under pressure to continue expanding west, this friendly between a fairly strong foreign side and one of the league's most successful clubs could easily serve as a gauge of community interest in the region. The friendly will take place on the 25th of May, during the break between Spring and Fall seasons. There's no news currently on match coverage or times.
