New York Cosmos 3 - Ottawa Fury 0: Highlights

On Sunday, the New York Cosmos got a big win at home, to put them atop the North American Soccer League table. The victory makes New York one of only two clubs to record a win on opening weekend, with three of the five matches played in the first week resulting in draws.

Juan Arango got the scoring started when Jairo Arrieta put one on a plate for him. 2015 NASL Best XI goalkeeper Romauld Peiser made a bit of a mess of the situation, though, coming out to challenge Arrieta on a ball he couldn't possibly win, and leaving Arango with an empty net.

Arango doubled the lead minutes later when a Peiser put the ball on his feet to volley home. Adam Moffat capped the scoring on the evening, catching Peiser doing his best Manuel Neuer well off his line, failing to clear the ball to safety, and leaving Moffat an empty goal to aim at.

With week one in the books, we'll now turn our attention to the second week of the season. Hopefully, it's a bit warmer and not nearly as windy for that one.
