The New York Cosmos remained atop the North American Soccer League table with a 2-0 victory over the Jacksonville Armada on Sunday evening. Gio Savarese's side got a first half goal from Jairo Arrieta, and one early in the second half from Adam Moffat to seal the victory. With the win, they remain level on points with the Carolina RailHawks, while slightly increasing the goal difference margin with another multiple goal victory.
Meanwhile, Minnesota United became just the third NASL club this season to take all three points from a match, defeating FC Edmonton on the road to keep themselves in touch with the league leaders. That victory could prove to be a big one for the MLS-bound club, who were tipped by many to be the best team in the league, but would have fallen more than three points behind their closest competition with anything but a victory.
Up next for the Cosmos will be their first road trip of the season, against an Indy Eleven side that has managed a pair of draws to start the campaign. Minnesota will have their home opener, against a Fort Lauderdale side coming off of their bye week, following a poor performance in week one.
