On Friday, El Salvador fought back from behind twice, in order to earn a valuable point against Honduras, in their bid to reach the Hex. On Tuesday, they'll seek to do that again, or even do one better on the road.
Like club teammate Yasmani Duk, New York Cosmos midfielder Andres Flores began last week's match on the bench. Also like Duk, he made a second half appearance with his club chasing a goal, one that his club managed to grab ten minutes later, and keeping their World Cup qualifying scenario fairly reasonable.
For El Salvador, a draw tonight would keep the path to qualification fairly simple. Assuming that Mexico doesn't drop any points before the Hex, a draw leaves Flores and his teammates needing a win in Canada, and leaves them hoping that the Canadians drop points to Honduras in September. Should El Salvador manage to win on Tuesday evening, a draw in Canada might prove to be enough, with a win all but certainly getting them through.
