The original New York Cosmos could be coming to a television near you

National television coverage of the modern New York Cosmos has been tough to come by since the reboot, but we heard some news on Thursday about an upcoming television project that could earn the North American Soccer League champions some extremely helpful attention. Deadline is reporting that a new television series about the rise and fall of the original Cosmos is in the works, with former captain Werner Roth serving as an executive producer.

Most American soccer fans are probably familiar with Once in a Lifetime, the documentary chronicling the rise and fall of the original Cosmos. The new project is a bit different than the documentary, in that it will be a drama series with actors portraying our favorite New York legends, such as Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, and Georgio Chinaglia.

At the moment, this project is in its very early phases, but sounds like must-see TV for any soccer fan. We'll have more details as they become available.
