New York Cosmos bring back Jimmy Ockford on loan

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Cosmos seemed to have addressed any defensive issues with the signings of Gabriel Farfan and David Ochieng, but late on Tuesday evening, a Major League Soccer side confirmed that the club wasn't done adding yet. According to the website of Seattle Sounders FC, Jimmy Ockford, who spent the 2014 season on loan with the reigning NASL champions, will return to New York for the 2016 season.

Ockford made a grand total of 13 appearances with the boys in green and white, 10 in the North American Soccer League, and three in the US Open Cup. Of those 13, nine were starts, with Ockford scoring a trio of goals for the New York Cosmos.

With Ochieng already aboard, Ockford should round out a very deep center back group, which should now be able to adequately cover for any potential knee issues with Roversio. It will be good to have Ockford back for a second spell in New York.

Welcome home, Jimmy.
