The New York Cosmos have spent the past several weeks being linked to several higher profile players, and on Thursday morning, the club confirmed the first of those signings. Venezuelan international Juan Arango is now officially a Cosmos player, and will be a big part of the squad for the 2016 season.
Head coach Gio Savarese has known Arango for quite a while, and was obviously thrilled with the addition of his countryman. Here's what he had to say about the newest player on the roster:
"Juan is a player who has demonstrated great quality throughout his career. He brings a tremendous amount of skill and experience with him and his leadership, on and off the pitch, will be very important for us this year."
Meanwhile, Arango had the following to say about his signing:
"I’m pleased to have this opportunity to sign with a legendary club like the New York Cosmos. Another key factor for me for joining the club is my relationship with Gio, I’m looking forward to joining him again since our time together at Caracas FC."
Juan should be a great addition to the Cosmos family, which will hopefully see several other new players added in the next several days.
