The New York Cosmos are losing title game hero Gaston Cellerino, who will spend next season at Club Bolivar, instead of returning to New York. Reports in Bolivia suggest that the Cosmos have identified a potential replacement for Cellerino, however, suggesting that the club have lodged a bid with Sport Boys Warnes to acquire striker Yasmani Duk.
The 5'10" 27-year old plays primarily as a center forward, and has recently become a regular with the Bolivia national team. These reports are citing the players agent, Rodrigo Osorio, with confirming the bid for the player. Given that the same story is suggesting that the idea of following in Raul's footsteps is appealing to the player, it would suggest that Duk is open to a move, possibly using the media to force his club to close a deal with the NASL champions.
At the moment, Duk is still under contract with Sport Boys, so an agreement would have to be reached between the two clubs before the Cosmos could work out a deal with the player. Duk does not have a green card, so he'd use one of the club's international roster spots.
