On Wednesday, the North American Soccer League released the 2016 schedule, which will again feature a split-season format. As it was in 2015, clubs will play a 10-match spring season schedule to start the year with a bang, with the club atop the pile after the first ten matches given the right to host one of the semifinal matches.
Here's the full New York Cosmos 2016 spring schedule, with the home side listed first. Times for these matches are yet to be determined:
April 3, 2012 - New York Cosmos vs. Ottawa Fury FC
April 10, 2016 - New York Cosmos vs. Jacksonville Armada FC
April 16, 2016 - Indy Eleven vs. New York Cosmos
April 23, 2016 - Minnesota United FC vs. New York Cosmos
April 30, 2016 - New York Cosmos vs. Carolina RailHawks
May 7, 2016 - Miami FC vs. New York Cosmos
May 14, 2016 - FC Edmonton vs. New York Cosmos
May 21, 2016 - New York Cosmos vs. Tampa Bay Rowdies
May 28, 2016 - New York Cosmos vs. Rayo OKC
June 4, 2016 - Fort Lauderdale Strikers vs. New York Cosmos
Each of the league's eleven spring season sides will have one bye week, just due to the odd number of sides. For the Cosmos, that bye happens to fall during the final week of the spring season, on June 11. With any luck, the boys in green and white will have already taken care of business before that round.
That bye week may not lead to much final week drama, but it does come at a nice time for the club, as the US Open Cup made things a bit hectic last season, and the later bye should really benefit the Cosmos as they hope to make a deep run.
The fall season schedule has also been released, and we'll have that up for you shortly.
