Official: Hunter Gorskie joins Polish side Miedz Legnica

Gio Savarese made reference to the fact that Hunter Gorskie was leaving the New York Cosmos this week, and on Thursday, that move became official. The 24-year old defender has now signed a two and a half year contract with Polish side Miedz Legnica, and will try his luck in Europe after a successful stint with the boys in green and white.

Gorskie's departure leaves Savarese in major need of defensive reinforcement, as he was the primary backup at basically every position in the defensive unit, a group which starts a 30-year old, two 31-year olds, and a 35-year old regularly. Center back Samuel Caceres has also departed this winter, making the need for defensive reinforcement even more dire than it was last season, when it was probably the most pressing issue that the club was forced to deal with.

Fortunately, with the starting unit returning in tact for a fourth season, any new additions should have plenty of time to settle in with their new club. Hopefully, those players will still be signed sooner, rather than later, though, giving them more time to settle than Caceres had in 2015.

Best of luck in Poland, Hunter. If things don't work out, and we all hope that they do, you'll always be welcomed back here.
