Gio Savarese discusses what Michael Lahoud brings to the New York Cosmos

On Tuesday, the New York Cosmos finally made a roster move, adding defensive midfielder Michael Lahoud on loan from the Philadelphia Union as part f the agreement to let Walter Restrepo join the Major League Soccer side. The move gives he boys in green and white quite a bit of depth in the center of the pitch, and at least numerically replacing Marcos Senna, who retired.

On Wednesday, the Cosmos released the above comments from Head Coach Gio Savarese, who talked about what the Sierra Leone international brings both on and off the pitch. As expected, Gio made sure to stress just how important Lahoud's character qualities are, as he's been known throughout his career as one of the finest human beings in MLS, and has been recognized for his humanitarian work, winning a FIFPro Merit Award in 2015.

Regardless of whether or not Lahoud is a regular contributor, or simply cover for the Danny Szetela/Adam Moffat midfield partnership, his character should make him a fine addition to the squad. Welcome to New York, Michael!
