New York Cosmos settle for scoreless draw with Minnesota United

The New York Cosmos entered Saturday night sitting atop the North American Soccer League combined table, with Minnesota United just behind in second place. They finished the evening in exactly the same position, following a scoreless draw with their closest competitors on the road in Minnesota.

The match proved to be a very closely fought contest, with both sides creating plenty of chances, without managing to score a goal. Minnesota did find the back of the net on two separate occasions, though both potential goals were correctly waved off.

While both sides will surely be content with the result, it's probably easier take for Cosmos fans, as the boys in green still have a three point cushion atop the combined table, and still have a game in hand, as well. They'll play that extra contest on Tuesday night, when they take on the fall season leading Ottawa Fury, in front of a friendly crowd at Hofstra.
