This past weekend, the New York Cosmos won again, remaining comfortably atop the North American Soccer League's combined table. The dramatic late victory saw several Cosmos' players turn in exemplary performances, and a pair of boys in green were recognized by the NASL in their Team of the Week.
Both Raul and Walter Restrepo earned Team of the Week honors for the eleventh week of the fall season, here's what the league's website had to say about the pair:
MID: Walter Restrepo (New York Cosmos) – Always willing to take on defenders, the California native did his best on a wet field against Jacksonville Armada FC. Restrepo did pick out Raúl with a fine cross, which led to the only goal in the game in a 1-0 victory.
FWD: Raúl (New York Cosmos) – With the clock ticking, the Cosmos were staring at a draw despite being a man up at home. The Spanish star, however, had other ideas. Receiving the ball from Walter Restrepo, Raúl faked his way past a pair of defenders before picking out the top corner for the lone goal of the match to claim all three points against Jacksonville.
As always, congratulations to the pair, and keep up the good work.
