The New York Cosmos took on the reigning North American Soccer League champions on Saturday, and again, did something that they failed to do in any of their four meetings during the 2014 season. New York outplayed the Scorpions, and with the help of some good fortune, managed to defeat the Texas side by a 2-1 scoreline.
Saturday's victory moves the Cosmos back atop the NASL combined table, two points clear of the Ottawa Fury, with a game in hand. It also keeps them within striking distance of the fall title, with Ottawa currently sitting atop the standings, 7 points clear of the Cosmos, but having played one more match.
Up next for Gio Savarese's side will be a trip to Carolina to face the RailHawks, who sit on the fringe of the playoff picture.
