The New York Cosmos kick off their 2015 fall campaign on Sunday at Hofstra, and the stakes aren't nearly as high as they were when the spring season got underway. Having already won the 2015 spring title, the boys in green know that they'll be taking part in the NASL playoffs, and hosting a semifinal match. All that's really left to play for through the final 20 matches of the season is the right to host the final (if they make it throught the semis), which they'd earn by finishing atop the NASL combined table.
Up first in that 20-match grind to the top is the Indy Eleven, who have played the Cosmos four times in their history. All four of those matches have finished in draws, so both sides will be hoping to take the first win in the series' history.
For the Cosmos, this match is a quick chance to wash the foul taste out of their mouths, following a disappointing loss to the New York Red Bulls. Nothing like getting back on the bike right away, following the Cosmos' first loss in any competition this season.
