Why the Blue Jerseys Against NFC?

Ok, so just to get started from now on references to New York City FC will all be using the initials NFC for the sake of expediency - got this idea from watching a rerun of the Open Cup game, and yes, the game is on the dvr and gets regular run! Can't get enough of the game to be honest. Anyway, One World Sports had the scoreboard read NYC for the Cosmos, and NFC for the visitors.

But the jersey? Why did the Cosmos use their blue jerseys? Many people had the same question, but only one person said something that struck a chord. During his show, John, the host of the First Team podcast, mentioned that NFC wore their home uniforms to the game. This made me think that NFC was trying to pull a power move on the Cosmos' home turf. NFC, as the visiting team should have wore their road jerseys, obviously. Did the Cosmos then try to pull a power move in return by using their blue jerseys to put their history on display? Did the Cosmos wear their blue to remind NFC their version of blue is 30 years too late to the party?

At this point, the team hasn't given an answer to this question, so any thoughts of "power moves" and counter moves are just fun exercises. But, until proven otherwise, this seems as good a reason for wearing the blue jersey as any other.

Anyone know the answer? Appreciate any thoughts, thanks in advance.
