Leo Fernandes leaves the Cuba friendly with injury

New York Cosmos

Twenty six minutes into the New York Cosmos historic match in Cuba kicked off, the club appear to have lost a player due to injury. Leo Fernandes, on loan from the Philadelphia Union, went down with a leg injury just 20 minutes into the contest, He attempted to play on, but in the 26th minute, he went down again and had to be taken out by head coach Gio Savarese. David Diosa came on in Fernandes' place.

There's no word yet on the severity of the injury suffered by Fernandes, but if it's serious, it will be a big blow for the boys in green. Leo has been in sensational form so far this season, and with a massive match coming up against New York City FC, as well as a chance to clinch the NASL spring season title in 11 days, his health is certainly something to watch.

Luckily for the Cosmos, if Fernandes needs a bit of time off, both Sebastian Guenzatti and Andres Flores should be available.
