This weekend, the Cosmos return home to face the San Antonio Scorpions at Shuart in a normal league game before they go against the Jersey Express this Wednesday. Last year, the Cosmos last all four of their matches against the defending NASL champions, with winter signing Walter Restrepo doing the damage in the semifinal match, which saw the Cosmos' season come to an early end.
Opponents: Last-year's NASL champions have struggled a bit this season. They struggled to find their form early in the season, and currently reside in eighth place with a dismal two wins and -2 goal difference. They did manage victories over Edmonton and the RailHawks, both by a single goal. Despite this, they still could cause some headaches for the Cosmos, so we shouldn't go into this game too relaxed.
Fans: The Cosmos return home to Shuart this weekend, and they've brought bobbleheads and explosives. Showing up early to the match will give you a chance to pick up a little companion: a Pelé bobblehead, in full Cosmos garb. After the game, the Cosmos are treating their fans to a fireworks show at Shuart, so stick around after the final whistle. You can watch the game on ONE World Sports (as per usual) or on the ONE World Sports App.
Analysis: The Cosmos are currently situated on the top of the table with three points above second-placed Tampa Bay, and have a very impressive unbeaten record that they want to keep up. I wouldn't say that the game is a must-win, however, it would be very disappointing if we drop any points against San Antonio, who have not been in great form recently.
Date/Time: Saturday, May 23 at 7:30 pm ET
Forecast: Clear skies and warm temperatures, Saturday evening looks like a perfect night to be outdoors for a match.
