With just one match to go in week six of the NASL spring season, New York Cosmos fans have to be happy. The results of the four matches played on Saturday were quite kind to the boys in green, and have set them up in a position to maove as many as five points clear at the top with a victory on Mother's Day. In case you missed them, here are the results from Saturday:
Ottawa Fury 0 - Tampa Bay Rowdies 0
The Rowdies entered week six with eight points, and could have pulled level on points with the Cosmos if results went their way. They couldn't find the back of the net, however, and were forced to settle for a single point in Ottawa.
Jacksonville Armada 1 - Indy Eleven 0
The Armada have emerged as the pleasant surprise of the early season, and their 1-0 victory over Indy sees them jump ahead of the Rowdies into second place. They've also had their bye week already, and with a game against the league-leading Cosmos still to be played, the expansion side might have become the biggest challenger for the spring season crown.
Minnesota United 1 - Atlanta Silverbacks 0
Last season's table topping side finally earned their first victory of 2015 in their fifth match of the season. Pablo Campos had the lone goal of the contest, and United now sit five points behind the Cosmos, having played the same number of matches.
San Antonio Scorpions 1 - Carolina RailHawks 0
Like Minnesota, the Scorpions finally managed to claim their first victory of the season, but still sit on the bottom of the table with just four points. That result was a favorable one for the Cosmos in the short term, as the RailHawks could drop as many as eight points back if the Cosmos manage to beat FC Edmonton.
