The Cosmos were held to a draw on Saturday evening in Indianapolis, and have picked up a pair of injuries in doing so. Both goal scorer Raul Gonzalez and assist maker Wlater Restrepo were taken off as the game was winding down, and head coach Gio Savarese confirmed after the match that both were removed due to injury:
"Both of them just got a bit of a knock during the match and we’ll re-evaluate them tomorrow. We’ll see how they’re going to do during the week. We hope they’re going to be available. I think for sure Restrepo, but we’ll just have to assess a little more Raul."
I didn't notice Restrepo showing any signs of a knock, and Savarese is certainly suggesting that his injury is minor. Given how well he's played over the first two weeks of the NASL season, having him at 100% for the opener would be huge.
Raul, on the other hand, was grabbing at the back of his leg toward the end of his night, though he still seemed to be moving pretty well. With any luck, the Real Madrid legend will also be ready to go for the home opener, next weekend against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
