Cosmos taking a look at former Red Bulls midfielder Ian Christianson

The New York Cosmos have a former New York Red Bulls player in camp on trial, midfielder Ian Christianson. The 22nd overall pick in the MLS draft made just a single league appearance with the Red Bulls, before being waived this past February. Oddly, that announcement came on the same day that the Red Bulls announced the signing of forward Mike Grella, who trialed with the Cosmos last season, but didn't end up with the club.

Christianson plays primarily in the midfield, and would likely be additional depth behind the trio of Adam Moffat, Marcos Senna, and Danny Szetela. While there's little doubt that he'd be a depth signing for the club, given Senna's age and Szetela's injury history, there's plenty of reason to believe minutes would be available.

Christianson was in the starting lineup last night when the club scrimmaged Miami United, a game the Cosmos won by a 3-0 score. Lucky Mkosana had a brace in that one, with loanee Leo Fernandes also finding the back of the net.
