New York Cosmos deny Antonio Di Natale contact, would have interest if he leaves Udinese

Tuesday has brought rumors of the New York Cosmos showing interest in an Italian soccer legend, with the club loosely linked to Udinese's Antonio Di Natale. While Gazetta suggested that the club might have a fairly substantial offer on the table for the Italian forward, SBI is now reporting that there have been no discussions with the player yet:

"We have not had any discussions with Antonio Di Natale. However, if he were to leave Udinese at some point, we would be potentially interested."

This statement is very similar to the news we heard when the club was initially linked to Raul Gonzalez, that there had been no discussions with the player, but that the club would love to have him if the interest was mutual. Di Natale has confirmed that he will indeed be leaving this summer, so if the interest is genuine, the door is wide open.

Whether or not a 37-year old forward is the best use of that sort of money is an entirely separate question, but at the very least, it's nice to see the Cosmos repeatedly mentioned as serious options for some of the biggest names in the sport.
