We know that the New York Cosmos will be hosting th North American Soccer League title game next Sunday, but we don't yet know who they'll be playing. We'll find that out this afternoon, though, as Ottawa Fury FC will be hosting Minnesota United for the right to come to Hofstra, and take on the boys in green.
In the Loons and Fury, New York has two very different potential opponents for the final. Ottawa turned their season around in the second half with a very conservative style, riding an excellent defensive unit and goalkeeper as far as they could carry them. They don't score many goals, which is why New York easily won the tiebreaker for the right to host the final, but falling behind the Fury will be more problematic than falling behind the Strikers was.
Minnesota, on the other hand, probably have the best attacking unit in the league, even after the mid-season transfer of Miguel Ibarra. They were a popular pre-season choice to win the NASL, and though they struggled a bit at times during the 2015 campaign, are easily the most talented squad on paper, besides the host Cosmos.
We'll know which of these clubs the boys will be facing in a few hours, but for now, I'd be interested to see who Cosmos fans would prefer. Please vote in the attached poll, and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
Update: The poll is now working. Sorry.
