Ottawa Fury FC had a remarkable season, making a fantastic run through the second half of the campaign, all the way to the NASL Championship Final. On Tuesday, their road to repeating that achievement was made a whole lot more difficult, though, as Fury head coach Marc dos Santos and the club confirmed that they'd be parting ways.
MDS says he'll be a staff member with the first team & will coach the reserve team. His destination will be announced Friday.

MDS on his choice to move on: "Sometimes you have to take a step back if you want to move forward a lot. I feel at peace with my decision."

Dos Santos has long been rumored to be bound for Kansas City, to take charge of Sporting's soon to exist USL team. That's probably a fair step back at the moment, as the coach described in the end of season presser, but in most cases, coaching an MLS side would provide a paycheck that the NASL just doesn't match.
In some regards, this is a perfectly logical decision from dos Santos, despite the fact that he's giving up a head coaching job next season, as this could open doors down the line. One possibility was mentioned during the press conference, which would certainly make Fury fans happy if it ever came to be.
John Pugh says he believes the day will come where Marc Dos Santos is the coach of the #CanMNT. #WeAreFury

Best of luck to Marc in Kansas City, assuming that's where he ends up. His replacement certainly has big shoes to fill.
