On Sunday, the New York Cosmos must win to have any hope of finishing with the top seed in the North American Soccer League playoffs. They'll be facing an opponent that had their number all of last season, at the site where their season came to an end in 2014.
Sunday's contest was originally scheduled for Saturday, but Hurricane Patricia caused the Scorpions to move the match to Sunday. Whether or not that will affect attendance is something that we'll have to wait to see, but between the last minute change, the weather, and the Scorpions disappointing season, a lighter crowd wouldn't be shocking at all.
For the Cosmos, a win is the only acceptable result today. A draw or a loss locks them into the second seed, and means that we'd likely see a heavily rotated squad in next week's fall season finale. With that in mind, I'd expect a full strength lineup today, and here's everything you need to know ahead of the match.
Opponent: San Antonio Scorpions
Venue: Toyota Field
Date/Time: Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2 pm ET
