Wright, Velela heading home after United States knocked out of U17 World Cup

For the United States, the FIFA U17 World Cup is over. The Americans lost to host nation Chile by a 4-1 score, a disappointing result that assured that they won't advance to the knockout round.

For the second consecutive match, Cosmos' forward Haji Wright was limited to a short cameo, starting on Richie Williams' bench. Wright came on in the 76th minute of this one, with the Americans behind 2-1, and looking to throw bodies into attack.

Meanwhile, defender Alexis Velela spent the match unused on the substitutes bench, where he spent the entire tournament. All told, it was a disappointing tournament for the pair, as Wright was limited to one start and two short cameos, while Velela was a spectator throughout.

One positive to take away from the Americans' early departure is that Wright will be returning to New York earlier than anticipated, and may be available for both the regular season finale and the playoffs.
