Sunday's match between the San Antonio Scorpions and New York Cosmos won't be played as scheduled, due to inclement weather expected to hit South Texas on Saturday. The Scorpions and Cosmos have agreed to move kickoff to 2 pm ET on Sunday, to avoid the impact of Hurricane Patricia.
Scorpions President Howard Cornfield had the following to say on the scheduling change, citing safety as the primary reason for the switch:
"Our number one concern is for the safety and comfort of our fans. Given the severity of the forecast – and particularly the likelihood of flooding – we felt this was the most prudent action to take. I’d like to personally thank Erik Stover and the New York Cosmos for their shared concern for the safety of our fans and for their willingness to make last minute changes to their travel schedule."
As with all road games, this one will be televised on ONE World Sports, and streamed live on ESPN 3.
