Following a disappointing World Cup opener, United States head coach Richie Williams made some changes. One of his biggest moves involved sending New York Cosmos' forward Haji Wright to the bench, as he shuffled the squad in hopes of a better result.
Early on, dropping Wright looked like the right move, as the US pulled out to a 2-0 lead before the halftime whistle. They'd concede twice in the second half, however, and were probably a bit lucky not to concede twice more, as Croatia hit the woodwork twice with would-be winners in the final seconds of the game.
Wright did eventually get into the game to make a 10-minute cameo, though the commentary team at NBC Universo was less than impressed:
NBC Universo throwing all sorts of shade on Haji Wright. "He's slower than me and I retired years ago."

Cosmos' teammate Alexis Velela did not make an appearance in this match. The US is next in action on Friday night, at 7 pm ET.
