The next opponent the New York Cosmos will face are the San Antonio Scorpions, who on Friday, made the news for all the wrong reasons. The Scorpions have reportedly suspended midfielder Josue Soto indefinitely, with the San Antonio Express-News confirming that the former Chivas USA man was providing opponents with strategic information about his current side.
The Express-News didn't get into the specifics of Soto's leaks, but one would assume that any information that the player was providing would help contribute to the terrible season that last year's NASL champions are having. It should also assure that there's not a club in the United States willing to give the player another chance, if San Antonio can actually prove any of this.
Regardless, the Scorpions will now be without Soto as they look into this mess, with matches against the Ottawa Fury, Fort Lauderdale Strikers, New York Cosmos, and Minnesota United still to be played this season. It will be interesting to see what, if any impact this situation has on his club, as they have a big part to play in the NASL playoff race.
