Leo Fernandes has had a brilliant 2015 season for the New York Cosmos, and on Tuesday, the youngster found himself nominated for a pair of North American Soccer League awards. In addition to being named a finalist for the NASL Golden Ball, Fernandes is one of the front-runners for the NASL Young Player of the Year.
Fernandes is the lone Cosmos' finalist, and is one of only two who also fond themselves in the mix for the league's Golden Ball. The other was Vincent "PC" Giro of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, who had an excellent season of his own.
In addition to PC and Fernandes, there were ten other finalists named on Tuesday. Those ten include Akeil Barrett (Jacksonville), Brian Brown (Indy Eleven), Dustin Corea (Edmonton), Darwin Espinal (Tampa Bay), Maura Eustaquio (Ottawa), Marlon Freitas (Fort Lauderdale), Dylan Mares (Indy Eleven), Oliver (Ottawa), Mallan Roberts (Edmonton), Yago Silva (Minnesota United).
Like all other NASL awards, voting forms can be found on the league's website, which can be found by clicking this link. Voting closes on October 27.
