The New York Cosmos face a must-win match on Sunday, if they want to top the North American Soccer League's combined table, and potentially host the final match, should they advance past the semis. Fortunately for Gio Savarese's side, the Eddies will be without a trio of players due to international duty, two of whom have been key players for Edmonton this season.
Lance Laing has been Edmonton's best player in each of the last two campaigns, and has done enough to catch the eye of the Jamaican national team. He'll be helping his country in a friendly against South Korea, while his club are in need of a win if they want to reach the playoffs.
Midfielder Sainey Nyassi is another key member of the squad who will be absent, as he'll be away helping Gambia attempt to qualify for the World Cup. Joining them on international duty is 18-year old Hanson Boakai, who has been named to Canada's U23 side ahead of Olympic qualifying.
There is some good news for the Eddies, who get Christian Raudales back from suspension, while both Thiago de Freitas and Tomi Ameobi should be fully recovered from injury and ready for larger roles.
