Fort Lauderdale Strikers sign former NASL Best XI keeper Joe Nasco

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

On Friday, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers finally announced a player signing, adding former NASL standout goalkeeper Joe Nasco to the roster. Nasco spent the 2014 season with the Colorado Rapids of MLS, where he made just four first team starts in addition to a small bit of action in USL Pro.

Prior to signing with the Rapids, Nasco was with the Atlanta Silverbacks. He was named to the 2013 NASL Best XI for his impressive play that season, in which the Silverbacks won the spring season title and earned the right to host the Soccer Bowl. They'd eventually lose that game 1-0 to the New York Cosmos.

The Strikers still have loads of work to do before the season kicks off, though the signing of Nasco gives them a pair of goalkeepers under contract. At the moment though, the club only has five outfield players listed on the their website, so we can probably expect quite a few more moves before the season kicks off in April.

It looks like it's going to be a very different Strikers' team than the one that reached last season's NASL title game.
