While much of the news surrounding the New York Cosmos this offseason has revolved around big names like Samuel Eto'o and Raul Gonzalez, reports out of Canada are suggesting that the club's next signing will involve a Canadian international. Nana Attakora had a bit of a rough season in 2014 with DC United, but Red Nation is reporting that the 25-year old will be announced as a Cosmos player very soon.
Presumably, Attakora would take over the role which Jimmy Ockford filled last season, as depth behind center back starters Carlos Mendes and Roversio. Given the injury issues Roversio dealt with in 2014, there's a very good chance that Gio Savarese will be using Nana quite a bit.
Prior to his rough spell in DC, Attakora had a pair of spells with the San Jose Earthquakes, as well as four seasons playing with Toronto FC. All told, he's made 72 appearances in MLS, with 64 of those being starts.
