On Monday, the New York Cosmos announced the details of their first 2015 preseason friendly. The club confirmed that they would be participating in the 2015 Lunar New Year AET Cup, which will begin for the Cosmos in Honk Kong Stadium on Thursday, February 19. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm local time, so it will be an early one for those of us in the US.
The tournament is usually a four team event, with clubs either participating in a third place match or a championship final depending on the results of their opener. The Cosmos will be paired against the South China Football Team, who currently sit third in the Hong Kong Premier League. They are one of the most storied teams in the area, with 41 first division titles.
Further preseason matches are expected to be announced soon, with more matches to be played in Asia, as well as in both South and North America.
