The New York Cosmos have added another attacking player today, signing El Salvador international Andres Flores on loan from Turin-FESA Futbol Clube. Flores has spent time in Argentina with River Plate, as well as in El Salvador and Denmark during his playing career. The player has been capped at every level with El Salvador, including 31 times with the national team. In those 31 caps, Flores has yet to find the back of the net.
Flores is a 5'7" forward known for his speed and skill, and I'd have to assume he'll be used in a wide forward role during his time with the Cosmos. While he doesn't yet have a goal at the international level, he's got a fine scoring record for a supporting player at club level. Head coach Gio Savarese had the following to say about the signing:
"We’re delighted to have added Andrés Flores to our squad. He’s a young player with lots of international experience and potential. His pace and skill will add another dimension to our attack and gives us more options on the forward line."
As is always the case with the Cosmos, specifics of the loan were not disclosed.
