On Monday, the Cosmos became the first side to take points off of Minnesota United, beating the Loons 1-0. Marcos Senna scored the only goal of the match in that one, volleying one into the left hand corner to keep the Cosmos in the title hunt. That strike, along with the rest of his performance, has earned Senna the NASL player of the week honor.
For Senna, it's the first time this season that he's received an NASL award, either as player of the week, month, or simply named to the team of the week. It's a bit surprising that it has taken this long for him to be recognized for his work, but given the struggles of the team to find the back of the net, it's not entirely unheard of.
Senna and the Cosmos will next be in action on the road, when they head to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Given the struggles of the Florida club to show any sort of midfield control thus far, it's not out of the realm of possibility to think the Spaniard could make it two awards in a row.
