The North American Soccer League has now announced their week three team of the week, and for the first time in 2014, it includes no players from the New York Cosmos. There were a pair of San Antonio Scorpions' players included, following their big 1-0 victory at Hofstra. Here's who the league selected as the best of week three:
Goalkeeper
Matt Van Oekel, Minnesota United FC
Defenders
Ivan Guerrero, Fort Lauderdale Strikers
Julius James, San Antonio Scorpions
Erick Norales, Indy Eleven
Midfielders
Philippe Davies, Ottawa Fury FC
Blair Gavin, Atlanta Silverbacks
Junior Sandoval, Atlanta Silverbacks
Kevin Venegas, Minnesota United FC
Forwards
Danny Barrera, San Antonio Scorpions
Marius Ebbers, Fort Lauderdale Strikers
Oliver Minatel, Ottawa Fury FC
Week one saw a pair of Cosmos named to the week's best eleven, with goal scoring defenders Ayoze and Carlos Mendes honored. Week two saw the New York contingent cut in half, with only Hunter Freeman named to the squad of the week.
The Cosmos will look to bounce back from last weekend's loss this weekend in Carolina, when they take on the RailHawks at 7:30 Saturday evening.
