With eight days until the Cosmos season opener, here's a goal from a legendary number eight

Vladislav Bogicevic may not be the same sort of big name most fans remember, but he was a big part of Cosmos history

Even casual fans know of Cosmos legends like Pele, Giorgio Chinaglia, Franz Beckenbauer, Shep Messing, and Carlos Alberto. While those five certainly earned their legendary status with some impressive performances for the Cosmos, there are other, less heralded players that were just as important to the club.

One of those players happened to wear shirt number eight, so today, we'll recognize Vladslav Bogicevic. The Yugoslavian national spent the first ten years of his professional career in Europe, contracted to Red Star Belgrade. He moved to New York in 1978, where he finished his playing career.

Bogicevic spent seven seasons in the NASL, and was named to the all-star team in six of those seven seasons. In total, he made 203 appearances between the regular season and playoffs, scoring 31 goals and registering 147 assists. In total, Vladislav was a part of six Cosmos sides that finished with the league's best regular season record, and lifted the Soccer Bowl during the 1978, 1980, and 1982 seasons.
