When we previewed the Cosmos midfield, there had been no changes made from the end of the 2013 campaign. On Friday morning that changed, as the Cosmos made another signing that will add depth to the unit. The club announced that they've reached an agreement with Jimmy Mulligan, who played collegiately at St. John's University. Before joining the Red Storm, Mulligan attended Patchogue-Medford, on Long Island. As usual with the Cosmos, specific details on the agreement were not released.
Mulligan stands 5'8" tall, and will likely be utilized as depth for guys like Diomar Diaz and Sebastian Guenzatti. He was a third team NSCAA/adidas scholar All-America selection last year, as well as being named second team All-Big East. He served as the team captain for St. John's, and started 66 of the 80 games he appeared in. During that time, he found the back of the net eight times while assisting nine more.
